Steve H, I picked up an angle finder at Napa for $7-$8. I checked several places on the axle; on the front and rear of the I-beam at both ends, on the flat area on the front of the axle as close to the spindle as I could get, and then on the flat area on top of the axle right next to the prings. Of course it took a while to find a place to park the truck that was flat and level.
Back to steering stabilizers again. As this is my daily driver, I might look into getting one, but only after I've fine tuned all steering components. I need to do some more reading on them too.
As for sway bars I've heared they are the second best improvement you can make to the handling of these old trucks next to radial tires. I've got one but I'll have to fab up some mounting brackets to run it on my GMC cross member.
