Thanks for your thoughts red58. I do have 00 cables, but I don't have the star washers - will give it a try. Maybe I should also check my battery; it's a new one but may have bought a cheap one. How many amps should a good battery be? One last question, can relays be used for the tail lights as well. Again, I appreciate your thoughts - I have plenty of stuff to do to restore the truck (52 Chevy 3100) and don't want to do stuff that doesn't need done. Bob
