I don't know of any cam builder that does not recommend the ZDDP additive when you install a new cam and lifter set in an engine. There may be one out there, but I don't know which one it is.
I've put in a few new camshafts and the ones I have installed recommend the ZDDP during the break-in procedure and once the cam is broken-in you no longer have to keep adding it.
It doesn't cost $100.00 to do this, not any where close. So for reassurance your cam is going to be okay it's mighty cheap.
As to the splash oil diatribe, ...... maybe I better hush now.
