People who sell $15/qt oil need to shovel all the manure they can. For a STOCK motor you don't need anything special. The oil in today's API oils has the same zinc levels as in the 50's when these motors rolled off the line.
Now, if you use aggressive lobe profiles, or high pressure springs then YES, you are going above the standard tolerances for any street motor and will need additional goo in the oil.
