So the switch is a variable resistor. When you adjust it, what value are you tweeking. Are you "resisting" voltage or are you "resisting" current flow?
If you are "resisting" voltage, then a meter on the load side would read less as you turned the knob up, right.
If you are "resisting" current flow, a ammeter on the load side would read less as you turned the knob up, but the voltage would still be the same, right.
