- nearly had'em understanding amps are more important than volts - Mr Volta notwithstanding - I did just slip the meter bit off my cuff
so w/ the switch at 'full speed' the motor supplied w/ 6v has 6 amps to make 36 watts [with a built in 1 ohm], and at 50% the motor only has 3 volts, but still has 6 amps so only makes 18 watts [still w/ 1 ohm?], and the switch uses 3 volts to make the other 18 watts w/ the same 6 amps .... but what we're changing is the ohms, doesn't that double the original resistance?
coulda swore I'd never measure less than 6 volts motor to ground, or that adding the switch resistance into the circuit wouldn't double the total circuit resistance .. try it Stuart
