I have a friend here in Kansas that has a 64' extended cab truck that also came from an oil company. It was meant to be used as a crew truck for the oil patch. He's since rebuilt it with a Chevy V-8, fresh paint, 700R4, and all the other goodies and said he likes driving it, but can't afford to put the fuel in it to enjoy it very often. Get's about 9 mpg.
