There were a few companies that made conversions like these in the 40's and 50's. Most of those companies specialized in ambulances and buses. I saw a late 1950's Chevy Suburban with 5 doors on each side! I wanted it so bad, but the wife put a halt to that idea pretty quickly. A really nice crew cab 1957 Chevy pickup with Napco 4x4 setup was on Ebay before. If you can think of it some company or individual probably made it back in the day. I still really want a Cantrell 1947 Chevy Suburban woody.
