Scrounging for parts is not a new thing for me smile

My last concern is that I would like my truck (43 Chevy G506 1.5 ton 4x4, 8000lbs) to be a daily driver. I live in PA and there are some pretty good hills to climb.

The 235 that I am planning to put in it is not the stock engine. The original 235 made 91 HP 182ft/lbs torque. The late 50's 235 I do have is 145 HP 215ft/lbs torque(I think). Will that be enough to get me up the hills in something other than 2nd gear? Other than my 4 hounds and an occasional chord of wood, it will be just a driver.

Originally I thought I would need to bump up the HP (cheaply). But does that sound like 'enough'? Should a start looking for one of the 261's? OR would that be to big? I have a 270 I can rebuild, but don't know it if will fit.
