As with the others, I'd also look for another mechanic. It never hurts to get more quotes. Depending on where in TX you are located, maybe another Stovebolter who lives nearby can give you a name or two.

Hopefully some time soon, you can rent a house or something behind one to live so you can have fun wrenching on your truck yourself.
