Old rigs are vary cool when kept all original and a lot of fun to drive.I know done it a lot. But you just don't see them out in the winter. Why? they suck in the snow and I wouldn't want to do a panic stop with any type of trailer with the original brakes or steering. Not to mention vacuum wipers and poor defrosters.I agree its a crime to hot rod a cherry old rig but that is not what you have.Yes you could restore it, but any thing you put on it that wasn't on it when it rolled of the assembly line isn't original to that truck. So I believe making it safe and comfy is fine.
