I can't think of any reason to do that. What would you accomplish? It's also possible to knock a lifter out of its bore above the camshaft and require further disassembly if the pushrod is removed and the engine is run that way. I'd strongly reccomend removing the cylinder head and getting the valve guides inspected for binding. A valve job now will probably prevent further problems with sticky valves and parts breakage/pushrod bending.
