Update....Back from camping and had a few minutes so I put on a resistor, condenser, and a new coil, and happy days, she started immediately, but the idle was too fast so I shut it off and got that slower but it idles a little rough. When it first started it would rev but after a few minutes of idling it won't rev.
The good news is it runs and starts good with no smoke, but I still need to check the timing and pull the jets to see if there is a blockage. The accelerator pump was pumping good when it first started, I'll look at that again too.
The miss wasn't rhythmic so I think it probably is a carb problem and not a valve.
