Why is it not closing. Is the glass hitting the vertical post?? If so maybe a glass shop can cut a bit off of it and your good to go.
When I put in my wing vent glass I didn't use the glass setting tape. Instead I used the 3M Adhesive and cut the tube so that it would "lay a big line" of adhesive to fill up the grooves in the vent frame. Then I slide the glass in and CLOSED the wing vent. Next I "pulled back" on the glass to make sure the glass was against the vertical strip to make sure I didn't get any wind noise. ON one side I pulled it back "to hard,to far" and it is just a tat bit tight but OK.....even using glass tape I think it'd be nice to "Pull back" on the glass and shut the glass in the frame till it set......just don't pull it back to hard!!!

EDIT: IF you use 3M Adhesive, don't try to wipe it off till its cured. Then trim the excess off with a razor blade and it will really look nice.
