Weather sounds like New Scotland, particularly the coastal damage. Parts of NS lose up to 4 feet a year from coastal erosion.

I suspect Nova Scotia is in the international zone, I did have a note from an Ebay seller once - "Sorry we don't ship to Nova Scotia, only the US and Canada."

I was not entirely disappointed with that.
