7 years ago I paid $235, or $265, to get a brand new core using my original tanks top and bottom. Since I'm running a V8 I had the old neck cut out and a later one put in so I could run a pressure cap(4lb)
So, depends on your future intentions. I'd take it to a reputable shop and get a diagnosis as to condition for repair or replace core.
