Anyone have any idea(s) why when I attempt to start my truck it sounds like the pinion gear isn't meshing properly with the flywheel. Sometimes it acts as if my battery is dead, and there is only a clicking. The battery is fully charged with new pos. and neg. cables. Grounds are all done properly. Also, when it does start, it sounds like the pinion gear is still dragging on the flywheel. I have had my starter and solenoid tested and they were both in good running order. Also replaced my ignition switch. I have a 54 1/2 ton, 12 volt system with hydramatic transmission, and a 235 c.i. engine.
