I'd suggest a Dodge 1-ton dually with a Cummins turbo Diesel for your trailer-towing chores, and a more period-correct buildup on the stovebolt, possibly a 235 or a 261 for cruising around the neighborhood. The Come-along will get better fuel mileage under load than a fire-breathing gasoline V-8, also.
