Agree with Jerry -- engines are one thing, but the brakes have to be considered, too. The original braking system is NOT up to the task.
K10 -- Sure, they overloaded their under-powered vehicles back in the day. They also used to cross the Pacific Ocean in dug out canoes -- it was unsafe then and it's unsafe now.
Bottom line (and official view of Stovebolt.com) is that driving in modern traffic with an under-powered, under-braked and over-loaded vehicle is unsafe (to yourself as well as to other motorists) and inadviseable.
