Denny - you're carrying the individual attributions too far, the entire problem is that human culture has been addicted to unsustainable exponential growth since forever and the planet is running out of space and resources to maintain that approach .... also take note that the developing world, China in particular, is running up against the same restraints, the house of cards is going to collapse on humanity and the planet, not just you and yours, because we're consuming ourselves out of house and home

in the post war era your parents were happy with a thousand sq ft home for an average size family, with maybe a carport as a luxury - now folks think they need 2-3000 ft and a 3 car garge, heated and plumbed, or [judging by folks here] a large seperate finished shop building .... all about context
