I joined the US Army in 1975, 4 months later I got out. 3 years after that I joined the US Air Force. Like everybody else i went to Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX for Basic Training. I was after assigned to Sheppard AFB. TX. for Training in Aircraft Maintenance; my 1st assignment was to Hickam AFB. Hawaii to work on C-130-B's. From there I went to Hurlburt Field to become part of the Special Operations Community In the USAF. I re-trained into the Transportation Career Field as a Allied Trades guy (body shop) and attended training at Aberdeen Proving (US Army)Grounds in Maryland just North of Baltimore, Maryland. The USAF then assigned me to Eglin AFB. Florida; just across town from my last assignment at Hurlburt Field. I was then assigned to Keflavic Naval Air Station in Iceland. After a year there I was re-assigned to Homestead AFB. Florida. I volunteered for Alaska and was soon on my way to Eielson AFB. just outside the city of Fairbanks. From Eielson AFB. I went to Goodfellow AFB. in West Texas, and finally I retired from the USAF at McChord AFB. outside Tacoma, WA. I still make my home in the area working for the US Navy as a civilian now.
