I ran my pipes straight out the back with Smitty mufflers. Sounds great.
I crossed over just behind the oil pan ahead of the fly wheel. This gives you access to the transmission and clutch assy. in needed. The only time you might need to disconnect the pipe is if you need access to the lower end of the engine or to drop the oil pan, and how often is that nessary?
Just more to clutter your decision. Hope it helps.
