Hey Curt,
I ran mine straight back, over the diff and out the back. Check out my pic in "Shoebox" (pg 8,9,10)that way you'll get an idea what you do or do not want. I liked to keep the tranny area clear and also have room for my hitch.
I used "Cherry Bomb" glasspacks....nice mild rumble up to 2200 rpm. After that, folks start grabbing their kids and ducking for shelter.
However, with good cab insulation cruising at 65-70 @ 2100 rpm's is comfortable. Hope this helps you with your decision.
