kthomas that is correct. It just adds an extra bit of security.
Going back to your original oil leak, how much are you losing? The hole in the flywheel cover is to let oil drip out.
I had read somewhere that GM had special cardboard mats which they placed under the new trucks and cars in the show rooms to catch the drips.
