If I remember correctly when I separated my drums from the hubs in order to have them turned, the studs held the drum on. As such, one would want to mount a rotor behind the hub in the same way, utilizing the eight lugs fitted tightly into the holes in the rotor. One would want a good, flat mating surface rotor to hub right? Then, having the wheel spaced so far away could actually create some space for the caliper would it not?
