Here is my humble theory;
The truck was manufactured when gas was 10 cents a gallon. The pumps then ran much slower and under less pressure. Now that gas is about $3.00 a gallon the oil companies want to get your money as fast as they can so they improved the pumps to deliver it faster under much greater pressure.

I have also noticed that the newer the gas station, the harder it is to get gas in my older cars and trucks.
