I'm not sure about your 49 but on my 37 and the 52 there are a couple of those bolts with what I call "shoulder bolts". They are the bolts that can only be tighten so tight... .and it still lets the cowl vent swivel. I took one of my old ones and had the machine shop make a couple sets of them. You may find some you need at an Ace Hardware store?? Hope this helps.


Just for guys who have wing vent assemblies
I might add that since I had such a terrible time with the rivets that hold the wing vent on my 52 to the vent assembly that I had the machine shop make me a couple sets of screws that were just like the rivets only threaded on the bottom. Then I used a small self locking nut. They look good and sure was easier than trying to bang that darn rivet with the sorry tool that comes with it.
