Welcome. Your project is a worthy one. I recently rented an Escalade while visiting friends in Colorado. The airport is pretty far from everything and by the time we took back the vehicle, we must have traveled a couple hundred miles and only used half a tank of fuel. I was so impressed by that, I've been trying to think of a way to get that technology into a bolt. I met a guy with a nicely restored '68 Buick Skylark who did that very thing and has himself a first rate daily driver. He did all the work himself but he has a huge alignment shop and pretty deep pockets. As long as we are talking big, be sure to incorporate antilock brakes into your project.
