I am neck deep into a couple of these projects and they do take more money than you can imagine. One (1947) will be a street rod and the other (1951)is the one I am driving.
The problem with the frame swap or other major blow it apart and rebuild is so many never get finished. It takes tons of dedication (and cash) to complete a long term muti year project. You have so many options with the factory frame, straight axle updated, MII, Scott's kit. Swap the rear,drop in a later six with an auto trans. All in a good solid original fame. Heck if you want to spend the money there are complete aftermarket frames that your truck will bolt right on to.
