Much of what the guys have said is dead on bulls eye, that said, I am a daily driver only vehicle year 'round of the truck listed in my signature below.
I have taken 2k trips with this set-up and it is doable, in fact, comfortable (for me). My daily commute is between 6 and 9 miles, surface streets or up on the interstate. I live in a small town (40k or so) and never see the kind of traffic you will see on a daily basis.
With enough moola you can convert anything into a rolling living room that is the American vehicle today, in fact with your money spent you'll be wondering where to put your coffee cup as there is no provision for them (think Duct Tape rolls).
All humor aside it is doable in stock or nearly stock form, it just needs a person 'cut from different cloth'. Good luck in your decision making.
