We have always used Permatex anti seize lube on the studs hub piloted piloted wheels. The torque which we do with a torque stick is on the flange of the nut. Stud piloted torqued at the ball and seat. If you run salted roads, they rust tight. If you oil the ball and seat, you will over torque the stud and it will break. Much was written on this subject when the big switch was made from stud piloted wheels to hub piloted. Stud piloted is so obsolete now that not much is being written about it any more.
