Look at the vin listed on the title and compare that to the serial number on the block. My '53 was/is a Washington truck and the numbers matched. The casting numbers confirm a '53 as well. So there is more probability then not, that it is a '53 with original equipment. I dont see a lot of previous owners going through the hassle of having the vin changed to match the title when replacing the engine. Just a thought.
See if you can get the contact information from the owner in eastern WA so you can ask about the trucks history.
