I've been mostly working on other parts of the truck , and letting the mystery oil soak. Yesterday I tried a prybar on the flywheel and it moves a bit, than goes back to where it was. It didn't do that before, so I guess its progress.
Dennis, I was able to get the socket and knuckle partly on, but even then it still didn't want to turn. For now I've given up on taking it off and will wait until the engine frees up.
