Kansas may be different form Missouri, I ask a lady who work for the state of kansas DMV and she told me what she would to skip the hassle is just "forget" you have the title, have a friend write you out a bill of sale and then file for replacement title. Don't even mention you have the title or how long you have owned the truck to the DMV. They might only give you a salavge title, but it's better than nothing.
