Might mention that the number of shim/gaskets required depends on how tight the ball housing is to the transmission. Too tight a joint will create a problem with movement of the TT whereas too loose will also create a sloppy joint. Somewhere in between it should feel just right. On the two I have rebuilt I have used 4 shims. It is well explained in the shop manual. Unfortunately they don't use any torque values which would help I suppose. BTW if after assembly the joint in the collar/rear trans leaks, you can loosen the bolts and tear out one of the shims to make a tighter seal. | | |
