The reason that I can give for doing the water pump swap is exactly as mentioned above. Further if you have not made a choice yet, I would sway you to do as I need to do this winter and get the plate and the pump and install it. It would be much easier to do outside of the truck on an engine stand than in the truck as I will attempt to do.
