The soak in the cleaner softens the deposits in the passages, but does not remove them. Use a dedicated dip-type carburetor cleaner. Gasoline, or other solvents aren't strong enough. Do a HOT-water rinse to neutralize the cleaner, and then use high-pressure air and a fine-tipped blow gun to blow LOTS of air through every passageway. The air dislodges the crud and blows it away. One of my carburetion instructors from General Motors used to say, "Put 55 gallons of air through every hole!"
