I now understand the reason for the stepped up edge, and will duplicate the glass , since my '58 is all original. There are no instructions with my weatherstrip kits, but I understand how to install them.
I only have one "stabilizer", and it is a short metal channnel with industrial staples holding the felt to the channel. I can always email a photo of it if curiosity is killing anyone, otherwise I'll see if Red58 responds, or just not use it. Maybe I'll put it on ebay as a "very rare" stabilizer?
