What do they call the new wrenches that hold on the flats of the head or nut, not on the corners? I would like to try a quality wrench set of this type. There should be a socket of this type also?
Been wondering about the ratchet wrenches for awhile also.
It was good to read the real world experience; that suggested Snap-On provides a better product.
Different brands call them different things, but Snap-On calls it "Flank Drive" most all their wrenches and sockets are made that way.
About ratchet wrenches, I had no problems with the strength or quality of the Gear-Wrench brand ones, just where I was working they were not quite good enough for plated and painted fasteners. The Snap-On ones are a little nicer, and not so damaging to plating or paint.
