There is certainly a place for four wheel drive but I am convinced most of us are not in that place. I think it has everything to do with keeping up with the Jones's and, as Grigg said, resale value. I have one for the resale. I found out the hard way that you can't hardly give away a two wheel drive in Colorado. I had to go to 5 dealerships before I could even get a halfway reasonable trade offer on my wife's 2WD Dakota. But I also believe that if you can get traction with two wheels it beats the heck out of 4 wheels that won't hook up. I once pulled a friend of mines' 4WD F250 that was high centered completely off my driveway in snow, up a sharp incline and then up a steep driveway with a Ranger. But I was on pavement and he was on air.
