Yes, Yes, I know! This is supposed to be a site for trucks. However, I have been using it for the past couple of years for help with restoring my 57 Chevy 210 Sedan, faithfully equipped with the tried and true 235! Many thanks to the people that have helped me with this process. I am proud to say that the Chevy is finished.
Back to the subject at hand.. I am presently looking at purchasing another project vehicle.. a 50 Pontiac SilverStreak equipped with an in-line 8 and hydromatic 3-speed. The engine runs great, and I would like to keep it, but I HATE that tranny! Does anyone know if the 700R4 or 200-4R will bolt up to that engine? I know I'll have to get a new rear-end with open driveshaft, but I need to know if either of these trannys would work... or if an adapter plate exists. Any information on this would help greatly!
