Sounds like someone bolted the trans to the engine without the converter being properly seated into the oil pump. That's why the engine sounds bound up and the torque converter isn't bolted up. You will have to remove the trans and inspect the converter for damage.It may have damaged the oil pump too. That's where I would start,
