No offense to the "old school" guys but the baffled straight-through original truck mufflers resonate very nicely in a dual exhaust system with standard diameter pipes. I know because I have gotten stopped a few times by the local police - they first check to see if the system looks legal (because it does not sound legal). Then we talk for a while about old vehicles.
Of course, the stock mufflers (available from parts vendors and your FLAPS) seem to be a little more expensive than Smitty's.
