While a muffler will always have certain "sound characteristics" the Actual Sound depends on a lot of things. Size engine, amount of h.p., the actual pipe routing and others. For me, I do like the Smitty's. IMHO the flowmasters are overrated and it keeps their prices up. I ran a lot of straight pipes in my day and currently run straights on my 37. HOWEVER, for 3 years I have a set of Smitty's still in the box just in case I want to quiten it down some!
