Colin,
I ground off the heads of the rivets, then fired up a cutting torch and cut out the center of the rivets. I waited until they cooled, then pounded out the rivets with a punch and large hammer.
If you look at the frame of the '59 I gave you, you can see where I removed the cab mount brackets this way.
Have fun, it's not really that hard.
