Since my trucks hibernate in the winter, I take the batteries out, place them on a shelf or counter off the ground, charge them, and let them sit for the winter. I have done this with cheap 6v, Optima 6v, and 12v batteries (trucks and lawn tractors). The cheap batteries last longer than they used to.
