I owned a 51 3100 back in the 60s and had a lot of fiberglass bats left over from insulating my house. I stuffed it all under the dash (so hollow back in there), and behind and under the seat. It was amazing how quiet it ran after that. You couldn't even hear those old lifters clattering.
