Denny, there are a number of similar products all intended for various apps. The tar will smell forever. The rubber does not on it's own will not stop heat or noise. There are many suppliers of the A/C- Heating trades under a lot of names. Any will work as they are intended to work in an environment that does not allow for odors that would work their way into offices,home, etc. The HVAC products do not or should not smell after initial application. Only the PSA ( pressure sensitive adhesive) should have any solvent that would dissipate in short order. The typical places that sell these are roofing supplier to the trade and of course HVAC suppliers/depts.Jon
