Yes it definitely is obvious that corn head Grease was not the intended viscosity for any lubrication in the steering gear. How would you even get it in without a zerk fitting?

Anyway, in my case I think the best course of action for the short-term would be to add the cotton picker spindle Grease, 00 lube to fill whatever voids maybe in the gear.

In the long term I'll add that to my list of projects on this truck and put it in a priority position over new seat covers and floor mats.
