The oil distributor on that engine is likely just to feed the nozzles that spray oil at the rod scoops. There might be a spring loaded valve like the oil distributor on the 216s have. But the rocker oiling comes from the rear cam bearing like the 1958 235 I had with the tubing behind the rocker cover.
